Objective: To build a IoT-based Remote Monitoring and Alerting System for Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation.
Project Overview
- Enhance the existing night vision system for mitigating human-elephant conflicts in the Siruvani region by integrating Tiny ML (Machine Learning) technology.
- Implement Tiny ML algorithms on Raspberry Pi units to enable on-device processing for low-power consumption and improved accuracy in elephant detection.
- Utilize sensor data and machine learning models to optimize the detection of elephant presence while minimizing false positives, thereby enhancing the efficacy of conflict mitigation efforts.

Geography of Implementation
- The project will be implemented in the Kalimangalam village located in the Siruvani region(in the border part of Tamil Nadu & Kerala), southern India.
- Kalimangalam is characterized by forests, agricultural areas, and human settlements, making it a hotspot for human-elephant conflicts.
- Specific deployment locations will include areas identified as high-risk zones for such conflicts, ensuring targeted and effective monitoring and intervention.
Number of Beneficiaries
- Local Villagers: The implementation of the enhanced night vision system with Tiny ML technology will directly benefit local villagers living in the Siruvani region by improving their safety and reducing the risk of human-elephant conflicts.
